Formula to Convert Atomic Mass Unit to Milligram
Milligrams = Atomic Mass Units × 1.6605 × 10-21
Example
Convert 1,000 atomic mass units to milligrams:
1,000 × 1.6605 × 10-21 = 1.6605 × 10-18 mg
Conversion Table
Note: Values are expressed in scientific notation due to size.
| Atomic Mass Units (u) | Milligrams (mg) |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1.661e-21 |
| 10 | 1.661e-20 |
| 100 | 1.661e-19 |
| 1,000 | 1.661e-18 |
| 1,000,000 | 1.661e-15 |
| 6.022 × 1023 (1 Mole) | 1,000.00 |
About the Units
The atomic mass unit (u) is used to calculate the mass of atoms, which are infinitesimally small. The milligram (mg) is a unit of mass used in medicine and chemistry, but it is still huge compared to an atom. It takes one mole (about 602 sextillion) of atomic mass units to equal 1,000 milligrams (which is 1 gram).
